According to the Russian EMERCOM Ministry order, on the base of the “Best Fire-Applied Sportsman of the year among Russian EMERCOM’s stuff” contest Main Jury Commission decision, made while its meeting on the 1 of December, 2011, Sergey Afanasyev, a firefighter from Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan), was declared as the Best Fire-Applied Sportsman 2011.

He is the champion of  Russia (2008), the champion of the world (2011), and also holds the World Record for Double Event (28.62 sec.) in Fire and Rescue Sport (the summarized result for an assault-ladder and 100-m obstacle course competitions).
